Since 1974, BMI Mail Systems has been North Carolina’s premier provider of commercial and corporate mailing solutions.

How it All Started

Well before the dawn of the Internet, Bob Midgett got powered on and plugged in when he started BMI Mail Systems, way back in the 1970s. After a successful corporate career crossing the globe in the international business equipment industry, Bob saw an opportunity for a second career in a much smaller market – he began peddling postage meters in his home state of North Carolina. Back then, the local NC marketplace was seriously lacking in options and was dominated by one national player.  (hint: rhymes with “Pitney Bowes”)

Bob, along with his family, pursued building his new company with passion to establish a better option for “hometown business folks” – friends and neighbors with both small or large companies who were longing for somebody they could relate to (and get on the phone, if they needed), who could provide an alternative solution to meet their business’ mailing needs. So, for nearly half a century, BMI Mail Systems has built our name on providing leading-edge technology with an uncompromising commitment to providing personal attention to our clients. Of course, you can buy new technology lots of places, but it’s the professional care and home-town client/provider rapport you can’t buy just anywhere. That unparalleled support while delivering newfangled technology is what has led BMI to become the mailroom and shipping partner for which so many businesses have been searching.

Look, we know mailing & shipping automation isn’t rocket science...but it’s not as simple as buying a loaf of bread, either. We try to simplify the quirkiness of our random industry so you won’t kill a ton of brain cells trying to figure it all out yourself.

There is no “I” in “Team”...but there is “T-E-A-M” in “Mail & Ship Equipment” - which simply means we know how to spell. But, if we’re good enough with letters to be able to spell, then, after 50 years we probably know a thing or two about MAILING letters, dontcha think? (...as well as shipping parcels). Bottom line is, we know what we're doing and we won’t let you down.

Rob Midgett

Postmaster General

It seems Rob has been with BMI since the days of the Pony Express. He started in the family business as BMI’s “Chief Landscaper,” and has done it all. When not reveling in the excitement of mailing & shipping automation, Rob enjoys traveling and enjoying the outdoors with his family.

Amanda Ragsdale

Office Manager

Amanda keeps the office humming – handling client calls, processing orders, and generally keeping the guys on task. When she’s not managing the daily happenings, and serving as BMI’s primary customer liaison, Amanda enjoys crocheting & camping with family.

Mark Pyles

Product Support Specialist

Mark is a seasoned professional, adept to handling everything from system hardware & software installations, to technical service repairs, to new product sales. Off the clock, you can often find Mark on a vigorous trail hike somewhere with a heavy ruck pack on his back.

Billy Donavant

Product Support Specialist

Billy has headed-up BMI’s technical department for years. He’s our Go-To-Guy to put out the big fires! He stays busy, but in his downtime Billy loves to cheer-on his beloved Virginia Tech Hokies, or his girls’ App State Mountaineers.
